Ron House
New Wave as the Next Guy (Spare Me)

By: Alex Steininger

Recorded between 1978-1981, Ron House (best known from Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments), was doing new wave before anything else. Unfortunately, New Wave as the Next Guy is heavily dated. The music may have sounded valid in 1978, but in the year 2000, it sounds like trash long forgotten. And it probably should have stayed that way.

The way it stands, the album seems as if it were released to make money and sell units off of Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments' name, rather than any viable talent Ron dished out in these early days. The album is just wretched, to say the least. Bargain bin cutout for sure. I'll give it a D-.
