 In March of 1999 former Nitty Gritty Dirt Band members John Mceuen and Jimmy Ibbotson got together in Richmond VA to perform in front of a live studio audience for Page Wilson's "Out of the Blue Revue" radio show. Thankfully for us the tapes were running that night and this CD contains the results of that evening. Stories & Songs is an aptly titled album highlighting an intimate evening with these two legends performing solo tunes, a few covers and some NGDB classics melding folk, country and bluegrass into an enjoyable mix. Interspersed between the tunes are stories and anecdotes, often lighthearted and humorous, about the songs and their lives. A delightful release that should please not only longtime fans, but newcomers as well.
