Sunna One Minute Science (Astralwerks) By: Alex Steininger
Electro-orchestrated folk-pop, Sunna's One Minute Science is an eerie blend of technology and past pop masterpieces. The album is beautifully dark and enchantingly optimistic. The hooks are there. It has all the pop structure you'd ever want. But, it also has the pulsating electronic beats running around everything, even if they're hiding and not very apparent, they're still there.Sure, Sunna has more in common with folk and pop stars (the string arrangements on here are delicate and sweet, near pop perfection), yet technology fans will love his use of technology to further his pop objective. This is one of the year's best pop albums, calling upon everything from the electronic drum beats it incorporates to The Beatles and Jeff Buckley, this album covers a lot of ground and never loses focus. I'll give it an A.
