War & Peace
Light At The End Of The Tunnel (Shrapnel Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson's side project, War & Peace is an extreme trip through heavy, hard metal, juicy melodic mayhem, and arena rock. Packing the punch and sting of early to mid Dokken, War & Peace take back the melodic hard rock genre, removing the sissies and the weak, exposing the fools, and leaving room for the real players to roam free. Strong guitars alongside shattering percussion and skull-crushing bass, War & Peace is a textbook example of how hard rock can be enthusiastic, terrorizing, melodic, and fun - all in one. Jeff Pilson and company hit it head on, leaving plenty of bands in the dust and room for more bands of their ilk to take center stage. If only it could all be like this. I'll give it an A-.
