The Color Red
Clear (Dirty Martini/RCA)

By: Alex Steininger

Highly melodic, but equally explosive hard rock, The Color Red's Clear, their sophomore full-length and first for RCA Records, is a bruising assault of hammering rhythms and loud guitars. But, underneath all the noise lies a band with a great sense of melody, a band that can write hard rock numbers while catering to the average modern rock listener. Though nothing new or innovative, The Color Red sounds better than most and knows how to write tight, hard hitting rock songs. Their greatest downfall is the lack of depth in the lyrics, which go for the thought provoking but come off sounding meek. I'll give it a C.
