The Realistics
The Realistics EP (Catapult Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Seven songs, nineteen minutes of pure garage-rock, The Realistics help set themselves apart from the hordes of others with the occasional falsetto and a knack for gleaming pop moments so sweet and catchy they make you itch. Their debut EP is full of both garage and wickedly delightful pop. So much delightful pop, in fact, that they almost don't warrant being called a garage band. But then again, playing with garage intensity and just bashing out the rock - slipping in the falsettos and pop so casually it makes you want to cry - they easily earn themselves a stay at the top of the garage rock pile. This is a band to watch out for. I'll give it an A-.
