Buzzcocks
Buzzcocks (Merge Records)

By: Alex Steininger

On their forth album since reuniting, English punk rockers The Buzzcocks deliver Buzzcocks, a hard-biting, fast, and furious record that continues on with their angst (older and wiser) lyrics and knack for a pop song, nestled in a guitar-fueled, lively punk shell. The strongest of their post-reunion records, Buzzcocks finds the band with a new sense of energy, as they rip through their songs with a vigor that most new pop-punk bands would find daunting to muster up. Crunchy guitars, fearless rhythms, and lyrics you actually want to listen to (let alone sing along with), the songwriting duo of Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle sound confident as they propel through tireless punk that is, as always, fun and smart. I'll give it an A-.
