Ikon
From Angels To Ashes (1997-2003) (Nile)

By: Jett Black

Ikon provides guidance, a philosophical roadmap within new music and lyrics that anyone can wrap arms around. "FALL APART" opens these 14 tracks with the POTENT, unadulterated, male vox of Chris McCarter which may be compared to that of Johan Edlund (Tiamat, LucyFire), Patrick Ogle (Thanatos, Illegal Teenage Bikini), Wayne Hussey (The Mission UK), and even Ian Curtis (Joy Division). The mood rocks deeply into shadows tainted at times by sadness, heresy, and a desire to persevere through it all. If this is your first encounter with the legendary IKON (Australia), then allow yourself now to be consumed by the rich vocals, echoing percussion, and soothingly ever-present strumming of the warm string section within "As Night Falls". Seven New and unreleased versions, plus 2 new songs ("Scorpio Rising" and "The Golden Dawn") make this CD irresistible for any IKON music fan, DJ, and new music enthusiast. Also included herein, a most beautiful acoustic version of "In Trust I Return". (A)
