They Walk Among Us
Mathematics, Art In Progress (Aeronaut)

By: Mike SOS

The Welsh band They Walk Among Us put its poppy space rock to work on its curiously titled 11-track release, MATHEMATICS, ART IN PROGRESS. Taking lush sounds from guitar effects and Hammond organ alike, this quintet's space odyssey is pristinely presented into tender morsels of music that are easily digested and enjoyed. There's a little bit of Radiohead, Coldplay, and some era of Bowie in here, but behind the UK pretense lie catchy ditties like the shimmering "Hit the Ground Running" and the Pink Floyd meets Robbie Williams jaunt of "Aeroplane" that showcase They Walk Among Us is capable of both writing tight songs and creating luxurious soundscapes.
