Careen
Crash Couture (self-released)

By: Alex Steininger

Radio-ready pop-rock with a slight Brit-pop influence, and plenty of strong, polished production to bring to life the songs, Careen is a promising band to look out for. They can deliver beautiful melodies, energetic rock, swooning instrumentation, and vocals that make you melt, all wrapped in a glowing pop shell. This is ready for a major label to pick up and make into a pretty boy pop outfit. They've got the hooks and chops, and nothing seems to be holding them back on this debut. It's infectious and strong enough to make little girls melt and music critics praise. It's only drawback that they seem more single than album oriented, because as the album goes on, the tracks become a bit more watered down. I'll give it a B-.
