 Black Mountain is another musical project for Pink Mountaintops' Stephen McBean who, along with Amber Webber, with whom McBean shares vocal duties throughout, shows a love for Velvet Underground and psychedelic rock on Black Mountain's debut, self-titled full-length. Moody, dark (as the name suggestions), and drenched in atmosphere, Black Mountain delivers an eerie, chilling, late-night cast of sexual grooves, sly ambience, and cerebral psychedelia, ensuring that this record puts the band on map, winning over fans with its stoned persona and intoxicating sounds. I'll give it a B+.
