Ded Bugs The Night We Got Sick and Died 7" (Self-Released) By: Jeb Branin
![](/images/sep.gif) Break out the bubblegum! The DED BUGS are a punk band who are in no way ashamed to butter their bread on the pop side. In fact, the title track is so catchy that I found myself singing the chorus all day long after only one listen. Musically they borrow a bit from the RAMONES' brand of three chord revelry and spice it up with the very brightest of 90's inflection ala ZOINKS or MULLIGAN STU. When I listen to a lot of punk in this vein I get the feeling that I am trying to straddle some sort of line between punk integrity and catchy hooks. With the DED BUGS I couldn't stop bopping long enough to even notice the line. That isn't to imply the music is frivolous... well maybe it is, but who cares!?! This is great fun!
