Caramel Caramel (Geffen Records) By: Geoff Melton
![](/images/sep.gif)
Following the surprise success of the dark and atmospheric, yet highly infectious single "Lucy", this eponymous debut from Toronto's Caramel quickly turned into a contract with Geffen, who then promptly reissued the disc. In keeping with the trend presented with the aforementioned "Lucy", you'll find alot going on within each cut here. Heavy, guitar-driven tunes, built upon complexly textured layers that are simultaneously intense and atmospheric, yet never lacking in melody. It'll take a few listens to fully appreciate all that's going on here, but it's well worth the time.
