Mascott
Electric Poems (Le Grand Magistery)

By: Alex Steininger

Twenty-seven year old Kendall Jane Meade (AKA Mascott) ventures out with her debut solo EP; a collection of beautifully composed folk numbers, ELECTRIC POEMS showcases a talented songwriter on the rise.

Now, I'm a big fan of females with beautiful voices. So, it was no surprise that once I popped on this CD and the opening notes of "Eyes" started coming out of the speakers, I was hooked. Her voice is soft and pure; it projects curiosity with every word, bringing the listener in closer so they can find out what the song is all about.

"Dead End Romeo," a soft number that injects some bouncy beats through a punchy drum machine and "Baby, Go Away" are both well-crafted numbers with plenty of charm. Mascott handles the guitar so delicately, like it is her best friend, and pumps out soothing notes that flow gently over hear words to compose a very laid-back song that is pure, sweet emotion.

With a golden voice and lyrics to match, Mascott is quite the talented songwriter. With an EP this strong, her full-length (assuming one will be released) will probably be one of the top releases of the year in which it is released. I'll give this album an A.
