John Train Angels Turned Thieves (Record Cellar) By: Geoff Melton
![](/images/sep.gif)
On their debut disc, Angels Turned Thieves, this Philly 5-piece presents a captivating pack of acoustic tunes, often reminiscent of Texas singer-songwriter's like Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt, pulling together elements of country, folk and bluegrass. Strong production that gives the music a warm, yet raw almost live sound, coupled with superb musicianship and vocalist/guitarist Jon Houlan's wry, yet honest lyrics make John Train a welcome addition to any Americana fans collection.
