Tommy Tutone
Rich Text Files (Secret Disc)

By: Geoff Melton

For those of you old enough to remember -> Yes, it's that Tommy Tutone. If you're not that old, "Jenny (867-5309)" might ring a bell. Although he had two other minor hits, for Tommy Heath (aka Tommy Tutone) no matter what comes after 1981, he'll always be forever linked to that name and number, which is a real shame with such a find release as Rich Text Files out there. Written between 1986 and 1997, RTF is a surprisingly strong disc that while reminiscent of his 80's stuff also has a modern day edge that keeps it fresh. Tunes like "The World Ain't Flat" and "The Grifter's Prayer" would be a welcome fit alongside today's radio hits. It's unfortunate that artists like Tommy have such a stigma attached to their name, because RTF is definitely a disc that deserves a listen.
