Black Sheep
Sacrifice (Rocks'Cool)

By: Geoff Melton

Back in 1985 Black Sheep, led by vocalist/bassist Willie Basse, and rounded out at the time by Paul Gilbert (Racer X) and Kurt James (Steeler) released their debut effort, Trouble In The Streets . Now, 15 years later, Basse (the only mainstay in a band that has included Slash, Mitch Perry (Steeler, Talas, MSG) and Randy Castillo (Motley Crue, Ozzy) among its' members)) is back with a new incarnation, a new EP and an upcoming full-lengther. Sacrifice proves that they're on the right track with four cuts of powerful guitar-driven metal. The songwriting and musicianship is impressive with a tight, crisp-sounding rhythm section and blistering guitar-work (check out opener "Love's Not Enough") topped with Basse's strong vocals, which are at times a bit reminiscent of Paul Stanley. Looking forward to the full-lengther scheduled for a June release.
