Filthy Thieving Bastards A Melody of Retreads and Broken Quills (BYO Records) By: Alex Steininger
![](/images/sep.gif)
The Filthy Thieving Bastard's A Melody of Retreads and Broken Quills is not the typical album you'd expect to find on BYO Records. Rather than a pop-punk record, this is good Irish pub rock with a twist, like a pop version of The Pogues with country influences. Irish vocals keep the spirit alive as the band bangs away at traditional drinking music with a punch, turning the stiffest of drinks into weak, watered down tunes in need of something - in need of the Filthy Thieving Bastards. This is good time, Irish party rock with a country bite, perfect to swallow a beer too, or to just sit back and enjoy. I'll give it an A-.
