Haymaker/Oxbaker Split 7" (Deep Six Records) By: Jeb Branin
This is another essential record from Deep Six. HAYMAKER spit out venomous hardcore that is reminiscent of classic eastcoast hatecore not only in its ball-to-the-wall delivery but in its raw and distorted production. I know absolutely nothing about this band-well, except that if I ever see a full length by them I am going to steal (er... buy) it. OXBAKER are the perfect band to share this split. Not only does their name rhyme with HAYMAKER but musically they are very complimentary. They too spew harsh thrash but instead of classic hatecore, they sound more like modern eastcoast hatecore ala STRONG INTENTION/LAST IN LINE or even, so as not to leave the westcoast out of this, I might compare them to L.O.I./NO COMMENT/INFEST.
