Deering and Down Coupe de Villa (Burn Barrel Records) By: Ashley Driggs
![](/images/sep.gif)
Picture a time when Sheryl Crow was just starting out, a time when her songs sounded like they had been recorded in her basement, a time when she may have actually had to have a day job. Voila! Deering and Down bring those images to life on Coupe de Villa. They've incorporated some interesting sounds into their music, like horns, clavs and saloon-style pianos backing up sultry, sexed-up vocals. The result is an interesting one, though we don't see chart-topping as a future career for them. After all, the world only needs one Sheryl Crow, right?
