Abandoned Pools
Humanistic (Extasy Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Tommy Walter, aka Abandoned Pools, creates music through a combination of instrumentation and computerization. With your standard drums, bass, keyboards, and guitars, alongside his trusty Macintosh computers, Walter's uses programming to elaborate on his pop-rock sound, creating an imaginative style of pop, electronica, and rock.

On Humanistic Walter displays his abilities, as they shine through on the albums' twelve tracks, each track basking in the glow of their own melodies, while also allowing enough clouds and darkness in to not feel too comfortable with themselves.

This is solid, mesmerizing songwriting written to captivate and engage, allowing the listener to feel as if they are part of the music while Walter's travels down his own paths and sings about what he's seen and been through. I'll give it an A-.
