The Raveonettes
Whip It On (Crunchy Frog)

By: Alex Steininger

New wave colliding with garage rock, played by fans of goth music, the chilling result is The Raveonettes' Whip It On, a combustible rock record awash with eerily alluring goth vocals, new wave melodies, and dirty garage beats. You don't get it at first, but feel the need to come back to it. You don't get it the second time, but still come back. You scratch your head and wonder why you keep finding yourself wanting to listen to it again. And then, after a few more listens it dawns on you. The wickedly indulgent sound is unique and you can't help but want to examine its roots, all the while it creeps deeper and deeper into your subconscious and makes you a fan. I'll give it a B.
