Trailer Bride
Hope Is A Thing With Feathers (Bloodshot Records)

By: Mark A. Lawrence the IV

With Hope is A Thing With Feathers, Trailer Bride produces another album of dark rough-edged country blues that cuts into you like a dull blade. These songs are landscapes haunted by souls who can't find rest and dark places that don't leave you for days. Only Otis Taylor has as morbid of blues style. "March 1" breaks out and speeds up the tempo a little to produce a slightly lighter song, but most of this CD is a stormy day at dusk. It's rare to be able to find music so filled with details that you almost feel overwhelmed, but Trailer Bride succeeds in doing just that. From the music to the imagery of the lyrics the songs on this album are so thick it's hard to let your head swim through them the first time you put the CD on, but with each additional listen the more it's like filling your gut with a huge meal so satisfying you don't think you'll ever want to eat again.
