Under Pressure
Still No Future (Sound Pollution)

By: Jeb Branin

Over the years you've READ a million reviews that have implied some band or another has captured the magic of BLACK FLAG. By contrast, you've probably only HEARD a handful of bands that actually live up to that hype. Thus, I hesitate to conjure the BLACK FLAG legend, but I simply can't write this review without doing so. "Still No Future" the debut album from UNDER PRESSURE manages to tap directly into the BF vein. And I'm not talking the post-punk era BF... I'm talked "Damaged." I'm talking Chavo, Dez and early Henry era. For contemporary references think ZEKE and SPEEDEALER but with a gruffer and more angst-driven sound. Covers of VOID and THE FAITH (the first tracks from each band off the legendary split LP) only make this that much more mandatory. I know you've got $8 burning a hole in your pocket right now, give in to temptation and order this. You'll be so grateful to me for recommending it that I'm likely going to be added to your will.
