Grand Theft Autumn Presents
The Fast-Trak Holy Nova Symphony featuring Coco B's and Eskimohunter (Grand Theft Autumn)

By: Alex Steininger

Grand Theft Autumn presents two indie-pop treats on The Fast-Trak Holy Nova Symphony. The first of the two bands, Coco B's deliver six hook-laden, ultra poppy, sing-along anthems, their lo-fi, airy presence perfect for their lightweight, listener-friendly songwriting, wrapping around you like a sheet, the lyrics the fire that heats you up as you grasp the sheet. Each nugget is equally sweet, delivered in a beautifully wrapped package. Then there is Eskimohunter who add some space-rock to the mix, delivering more bouncy, energetic numbers, trading the beauty of Coco B's material for more cerebral layers that play with your mind. Their six songs also experiment and toy with sound scapes a lot more than Coco B's, but never do they create as beautiful melodies as the Coco B's. A good team and a nice way to play off each other, Coco B's start it off sweet before the second half of the record shakes you a bit, plays with your mind, and delivers the layered contract to the Coco B's stripped down, acoustic pop offerings. I'll give it a B+.
