 Riding the same wave as currently rock darlings The Strokes and The Vines, the all-female quartet Sahara Hotnights have released its debut major label release after a few smash indie successes. Displaying a firm grip on the art of rock and the kind of no-nonsense approach found on "Walk on the Wire" firmly in tow throughout the 11-track release, Sahara Hotnights work hard to debunk the myth that girls don't rock. This Swedish outfit's garagey guitars and semi-squeaky clean fun time beats fall somewhere between The Go-Go's, Weezer, and The Cars, as tracks like the bouncy "Stay/ Stay Away" and the punchy "Empty Heart" typify Kiss and Tell's underlying pop sensibility with a real rock backbone. Despite the idea that four pretty girls singing rock anthems with style and substance seems out of reach, this band makes the fantasy a reality, relieving many rock fans of girls that rock that have turned sour on Courtney, Avril, and Alanis.
