The Wipers
The Herd (Tim/Kerr Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Greg Sage is the mastermind behind the longtime Portland band, The Wipers. A two man band including Guitars and Drums. Greg Sage handles the guitar and vocal duties, while Steve Plouf handles all the drumming. This band is a legend in the Northwest.

The first song, "Psychic Vampire," is a straight forward rock and roll song. Matter of fact, The Wipers can be best described as a rock band with distorted vocals on some songs. Track two, "No Place Safe," is much life the first song. Hard hitting drums, and straight forward rock guitars. But the vocals are like what metal bands did in the eighties during their slow numbers. Deep vocals that are slow and carry themselves, while the music in the band carries on at it's medium pace. There are twelve tracks on the CD, and to start telling the numbers apart you have to listen to the CD for awhile. A good CD if you were into the eighties brand rock and roll.

This CD comes from Greg Sage, who also produced the CD, a legend in the Northwest. The CD wasn't overly bad, but it had some weak points, like a tendency for each track to sound similar. I would give this CD a B-. It was good, but had room for improvement.
