Eric Lambert & The Laughing Gnomes Year of the Gnome (GnomeProductions) By: Jeb Branin
Rock 'n roll was born as a bastard child of the blues and over the years most of the great "pure" rock bands have allowed at least a little bit of that heritage to shine through in their music. In fact, some have built their whole sound on a foundation of blues; a school of thought that Eric Lambert graduates from with honors. From top to bottom this CD is a showcase for how down home and bluesy rock music can be. Eric's guitar work brings to mind the smooth and passionate delivery of legends like Albert King (from the blues side of the coin) and Jeff Beck (from the rock side). The only thing I can't figure out is this "gnome" business... there is nothing gnomish about this sound, in fact it is gigantic!
