Brothering Brothering [cassette] (self-released) By: Jeb Branin
I'd bet a dollar that the members of this band originally cut their teeth playing metal. BROTHERING, however, is not just a metal band. Sure they are hard but they also have a keen sense of melody and some original ideas. The clean vocals support a musical base that contains everything from guitar rock to pop to punk. At first the mixture seems a bit incongruous but after a few listens I sense some real genius here. There is a lot of development still needed, especially in crafting songs that fully incorporate and take advantage of the uniqueness of the delivery, but all in all this is an impressive demo from a band that I know is working their butts off to get their name out.
