Slobber/R.W.S.
Split 7" (SLOBBER)

By: Jeb Branin

This record is a slap in the face to people who think that both bands on a split should sound the same. In fact these two bands are light years apart in many ways. SLOBBER are the west bay kings of slop-core. Their loose and bombastic style is infamous. Their raging hardcore always sound like it is about to go spinning out of control but someone it never does. It's funny how these guys always sound like they are having more fun than anyone else. It is notable that these tunes are some of SLOBBER's best. R.W.S. are a scorched earth grind band. Whether they are blasting at hyper speed or engulfing the listener in an avalanche of sludge it doesn't matter, they are intense. Although rather inspired, it seems, by early NAPALM they aren't derivative and somehow manage to create a vibe that is definitely hardcore. A total DIY feel to the whole project only increases its appeal.
