Vae Victis
Vae Victis 12" LP [Clear vinyl] (Satan's Pimp)

By: Jeb Branin

The debut album by VAE VICTIS is a mother lode of pure noise grind. This band has avoided all cliches in their delivery. Their sound is complex and experimental, not to mention steeped in noise and disharmony. They create a very distinctive grindcore sound while at the same time not succumbing to any kind of wanderlust that takes them too far off center as to alienate fans of the genre. It is the perfect soundtrack for the end of the millennium as well as a superb way to usher in the next 1,000 years of humanities folly and inhumanity to man. Every aspect of this album is powerful and destructive. The guitars are a ravenous horde bent on total aural annihilation. The larynx tearing vocals are the screams of the damned as the drums beat their endless march into hellish torture. The bass throbs like the heartbeat of the world held in an iron grip of fear and loathing, the life slowly being squeezed out of it. Destined to be one of the year's best.
