Kevorkian Death Cycle
A + 0 (m) (Metropolis Records)

By: DJ Dysdynia

Kevorkian Death Cycle is back after the quick label change from the now non-existent, Ras DVA to the totalitarian Metropolis Records. From Collection for Injection (out of print as of now) to Dark Skies, KDC took a more experimental flavor. Thankfully, A + 0 (m) is virtually incomparable to either Collection for Injection or Dark Skies. The CD begins with lyricless, "How to Nuke Heaven," which is a foreshadowing track that gives a taste of how KDC has evolved since their latest release. The group has chosen to stay away from the standard harsh distorted industrial vocals, to a purer guttural vocal tone. Much of the screaming and rage-ridden keyboards has been relinquished. A + 0 (m) has all the constituents of great industrial dance music. Is this bad? Never, unless of course, you prefer chaotic, sporadic sounds that resemble someone liquidifying a radio in a blender. ?Death to the Flesh? begins with a growing keyboards and then hits straight into a hard hitting beats, electronica with the works, and even a little background female vocals. Original songs are the best but, who could resist a electrolyzed KDC remake of "Relax?" The overall sound of the album is organized, not overly processed with distortion, and perfectly functional for the dancefloor. In this reviewer's opinion, A + 0 (m) gets three ?meows? and even a "here, kitty! kitty!" It's going to make a great live show, so, definitely check them out if you get the chance.
