The World Dies 1989-1999 (Wild Rags)

This CD is both a look back and a look to the future for CRUCIFER. Consisting of 8 digitally remastered tracks from the bands earlier releases and 6 newer, never before released tracks salvaged from a CD project that, sadly, never got fully off the ground. CRUCIFER are and have been for almost a decade (they formed in 1991, so I'm not sure what the 1989 in the title is referring to...) One of the classiest bands in death metal. They are crushingly heavy and potently powerful but they are also restrained and, as odd as it sounds, often understated. They are DEFINITELY more interested in making good music and crafting solid metal tunes than they are in being the "heaviest", "fastest", "most brutal" or "evilest" band around. This may have cost them some recognition amongst fans who are always on the prowl for that which is pushing the envelope and that which is striving for heretofore un-achieved excesses in the extreme but it has allowed CRUCIFER to carve their own distinct niche in the scene and has given them a longevity that most bands would envy. Maybe the highest compliment of all for this CD is simply to say that it is a worthy addition to the CRUCIFER catalog.
