Hate Dept.
Technical Difficulties (Restless Records)

By: DJ Dysdynia

Technical Difficulties is the new album from the self-proclaimed "punk band with keyboards," Hate Dept. This is one of those bands that has had as many label changes as they have had albums. Technical Difficulties is the third album from Hate Dept., following Meat Your Maker and Omnipresent. The band has definitely failed to continue with their classic industrial formula. Even so, Technical Difficulties is still lacking in many other departments as well. Seibold has no distortion on his vocals, revealing how weak and inert they truly are. As far as the rest of the music is concerned, it is feeble at best. No notable signs of detailing guitar work, no drummer, no bass and no new beats on the old synth programmer. Hate Dept is more like "punks with keyboards." I see no signs of real "punk" ingredients here. Coincidentally, this is the album receiving the most notability on the radio, proving that some radio stations will play anything if paid enough by the right record company.
