Feel-Good Genocide
Listen At Your Own Risk [cassette] (self-released)

By: Jeb Branin

This is the second demo by the one man basement noise band FEEL-GOOD GENOCIDE and to these ears it seems miles removed from the first tape "Revenge on the Couch Potato Farm". Whereas that one was more of a quirky yet sonic wall of noise, this one is more eclectic and experimental in nature. The songs have better definition on "Listen At Your Own Risk" yet they are still noisy and raw and the basement production still gives the whole tape a rehearsal quality. At the risk of being too obscure I gotta say this reminds me of something the always under appreciated Jeff Jahn would create. The seemingly non sequential organization of the songs with a variety of non traditional (in extreme music anyway) instruments spackled into the noise give it a highly experimental flavor in the Jahn vein. The lyrics are biting social commentary and combined with the often whiny vocal delivery, I think a Jello Biafra comparison is also fair and accurate. This is not a project for the fair weather music aficionado but if you like it noisy, under produced and explorative, FGG is worth check into.
