A Fistful Of Rock N' Roll Volume 2 (Tee Pee Records)

By: Jeb Branin

Here is volume two in what is planned to be a 13 part series dedicated to the re-emergence of granite solid punk rawk and roll. Every single one of these bands strips it down and tears it loose. With a nod to everyone from Chuck Berry to the NEW YORK DOLLS, they burn hot and play hard. For me the entire scene is epitomized by the mighty SUPERSUCKERS who just so happen to kick off this volume. Others on board are the snotty SNAKE CHARMERS, the now defunct HAUNTED HEAD, the smash mouth LA DONNAS, the blazing JAKKPOT, the biker bar bastards SILVER TONGUED DEVILS, the "77 inspired DEAD MAN'S CHOIR, the stalwart FEARLESS LEADER, the metal tinged PILSNER, the sick and twisted CHICKENHAWKS, the motor city demons STEETWALKIN CHEETAHS, EASY ACTION fronted by the hardcore legend John Brannon (ex-NEGATIVE APPROACH / EARTH 18), the spitfire IRON BOSS, the southern fried DEXATEENS (with the hottest tune on the CD), and the blistering JONES CRUSHER. Volume 2 is even better than volume 1. I'm dying to see if they can sustain this level of quality through 13 volumes! The cover art is a Big Daddy Roth knock-off. Someday I'll have to tell you about when I was a neighbor of Big Daddy...
