Paris, Texas
Brazilliant! (Polyvinyl Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Muscled up, guitar-driven emo that leans towards rock 'n' roll or punk at every chance it gets, Paris, Texas is a band that has the strength and talent to create a good record. And this is a good record, musically. Vocally, though, I was quickly turned off. The singer doesn't sing. Instead, he chases the song, screaming along to keep up with it. It's very unappealing and just doesn't work. Either that or he's trying to pump up his voice and be strong like the music. Whatever it is, it falls flat on its face. I'll give it a C-.
