Bloodpact/Reaching Forward
Split 7" (Reflection Records)

By: Jeb Branin

Two sXe thrash bands from two opposite sides of the globe rip and tear though 2 original tracks and one MANLIFTINGBANNER cover each. BLOODPACT from the U.S. are definitely the more frantic of the two bands. Their OPSTAND meets HELLNATION flavored hyperthrash is fast becoming one of my favorites. I believe the tracks for this split were recorded during only the band's third trip into the studio and in spite of (or maybe because of) their relative freshness they continue to tighten and develop their blistering attack in impressive ways. They are truly turning into a thrash juggernaught amongst the elite in the scene. Their intelligence and dedication to an ideal are also impressive. REACHING FORWARD from The Netherlands also play hardcore that is heavily influenced by the violent delivery of neo-thrash but they temper things with a definite interjection of classic 80s chugga-chugga sXe influences. Their passion and fire are almost equal to that of BLOODPACT making this split a definite keeper.
