This Time Next Year (Revelation Records)

By: Alex Steininger

This Time Next Year is pop-punk; but it's not. Confused? Well, they have the hooks and sugarcoated punchy beats that are typical in every pop-punk band. But, they definitely aren't a Fat Wreck Chords or an Epitaph band. They play along with the Revelation Records tag, which I believe stands for hardcore all the way. They're not hardcore, but they're powerful and driven enough to at least get hardcore kids to give them a fair shake before writing them off as another pop-punk band. And they're poppy enough to get every Southern California punk rocker to go to their shows and buy all their merchandise. And, that my friend, is a good punk record. I'll give it a B+.
