Foreshadowing Our Demise (Relapse Records)

 Although ostensibly SKINLESS seem to be a gore-metal band, they really are much more. Sure they capitalize on the low-tuned roar approach of the best in gore-metal but instead of being a slave to the sound they manage to transcend it. They take the classic "Cookie Monster goes to hell" sound (ala CANNIBAL CORPSE) and flesh it out with a variety of song writing vibes, including (gasp!) melody. They also have intelligent and well thought out lyrics. Not well thought out in the way most gore bands do, by regurgitating CARCASS' message, but well thought out as in high quality poetry.
