Walken r.02[the.new.manerism] (Deep Six Records) By: Jeb Branin
![](/images/sep.gif)
Sporting one of the weirdest albums titles ever the new CD by WALKEN is gonna bust you in the chops. If you escape with anything less than a mouthful of busted teeth consider yourself lucky. To my ears WALKEN are akin to TOSHIRO MIFUNE in that they take the best extreme hardcore has to offer (read: power violence) and re-interpret it with a noisy not-quite-math-core approach that is pure new millennium. In the post-9/11 world it is bands like this that matter - Bands who sport enough violence in their sound to compete with the "real world."
