Fire Bug
Fragile (Buddha Belt Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Attempting to sound commercial and palatable, Fire Bug's Fragile seems to really want to create a modern rock hit. Though, not produced well enough or tight enough as a band to score any points with the modern rock crowd, the band's attempts are feeble at best. However, the album isn't a total waste. Through the cloudy recording and rawness of this record is a ray of sunshine, hinting at a band that needs to hammer out a few more records, get more live shows under their belts, and really give it some work before they crank out a tight, punchy pop-rock record. Which seems completely possible if they keep going for it. However, this record is lacking in a lot of areas. All you can do is hope for the best further down the line. I'll give this a C-.
