Bracket
Live in a Dive (Fat Wreck Chords)

By: Jeb Branin

It took me a few years to "get it" with BRACKET (I shudder to remember the scathing review I gave one of their eps in 1995) but ever since 1997's "Novelty Forever" I have been hooked and after Y2K's "When All Else Fails" I became an admittedly hopeless BRACKET dork. Hell, I can't even eat an apple with starting to sing "I really don't like the taste of all those green apples..." So when it was announced BRACKET would become the second band to have an album released in the "Live In A Dive" series I couldn't have been happier. Then when the CD came out and included a full size comic book and a CD-Rom section I was positively giddy. There are so many hooks in BRACKET's unique take on punk that they are not allowed to play in seaside towns with endangered species of fish. If you haven't yet succumbed to their brilliance, all I can say is, wait, you will be. You might even want to consider just giving in now and picking up this CD would be a good start. It features songs from each one of their albums-some of which are out of print, and one of which was never released due to some label big wig at Enigma Records having his or her head up his caboose.
