Otep Sevas TRA (Capitol Records) By: Alex Steininger
![](/images/sep.gif)
Crushing, shin-splitting metal-rock with a melodic edge, Otep's Sevas TRA fits in perfectly with everything on the radio, but manages to sound a lot more listenable than the other 'nu metal' bands. The female vocals give the music an advantage, as she wails and screams, but without the generic testosterone-driven male growl. The band is quite competent, too, playing fast, hard, and without restrictions, letting go and giving it there all. A gem if you like 'nu metal', and a semi-stomach-able disc for the rest of the world. I'll give it a C+.
