The Drysdales
The Drysdales (Time Warp)

By: Gary "Pig" Gold

Don't be too frightened now, but The Drysdales play power-pop.

In fact, I would care to wager they sleep, drink, and obviously EAT Power Pop whenever, and however, possible. Meaning The Drysdales never ever shy from stripping their melodies, arrangements, and especially lyrics to their barest, and thusly most effective elements. Coz it's the SONGS that are important (stupid), remember?

With all of the exactly correct influences (roughly, any top-10 circa 1965) and then flavorings atop (i.e., Heartbreakers -- of the T. Petty variety). And then there's Raspberry Scott McCarl's appearance as not only a performer but an actual co-author (on this disc's most obvious stunner, "Lost In Your Smile"), which simply places a most authoritative Stamp of Approval across these entire proceedings.

Whew!

PS: and "God Bless Del Shannon," INDEED.
