Tuatara Cinemathique (Fast Horse Records) By: Alex Steininger
![](/images/sep.gif)
On their third release, Tuatara, formed in 1997 by Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, Luna bassist Justin Harwood, and R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, the trio employ a cast of well-known, multi-talented friends to create Cinemathique. Young Fresh Fellows/Minus 5 mastermind Scott McCaughey, Joe Cripps, Eric Richards, Critters Buggin's Skerik, as well as several others all play a variety of instruments. Together, they help create a fusion of acid jazz-based world music grooves for you to indulge in while the sounds of vintage keyboards and rich horn arrangements can be heard as well. I'll give this an A-.
