The Lot Six
Animals (Espo Records)

By: Alex Steininger

The drunken hillbilly rock of "My Son", the acoustic ballad "The Tiniest Tin", and the slightly jangle-y, roaring rock of "Took My Place" come together with the fiery hardcore of "All So Nice To Know", "Deviltown", and "I Get High". The rest of the tracks walk the line between the acoustic ballad and pure hardcore, ranging in styles from melodic pop to guitar rock, and everything in between. If The Lot Six is having an identity crisis, they do it well, able to go from a fists-through-the-wall hardcore song to a sweet pop hook in no time flat. I'll give this a B-.
