Aberdeen
Homesick and Happy To Be Here (Better Looking Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Subtle, enchanting indie pop songs, Aberdeen's Homesick and Happy To Be Here, is a Sunday afternoon put to music, the sleepy, let's-not-get-out-of-bed attitude put to gentle strumming and picking of the electric guitar, accompanied by brushing rhythms and easy natured beats. Complimented by beautiful voice of front woman Beth, Aberdeen's brand of California indie-pop is refreshing. It reminds you that, even though you're grown up now, sometimes (when you finally do get out of bed on Sunday), running around in sprinkler and picking flowers in the meadow can be more therapeutic than reading the paper with your feet up on the table while you drink coffee. I'll give this a B+.
