The Devoted Few
Sleepless (Nonzero Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Fronted by Ben Fletcher, a member of Bluebottle Kiss, one of Australia's most influential indie-rock bands, the Australian quintet The Devoted Few, while Bluebottle Kiss was searching to replace their drummer, recorded their debut full-length. Sleepless, engineered, produced, and mixed by Wayne Connolly (Australia's sought after producer and front man for Knievel), is that record, a glorious pop-rock offering that owes as much to folk as it does rock, bridging it with plenty of pop influences. From the serene "On the Mirror, In the Dust" to the alluring title track, The Devoted Few create a crafty, relaxing pop-rock record you can fall asleep with or blast on your stereo to fully feel everything that is going on. I'll give it a B+.
