Subthunk
Just A Few Notes Before We Go (Ureneely Recordings)

By: Alex Steininger

A bit funky, a bit groovy, and slightly psychedelic, the borderline electronica of Subthunk is mellow and calm, the kind of record you can play in your room while the incense burns, the lava lamp glows, and you sit there getting stoned. The songs are catchy, swimming in your head note after note, and the grooves are danceable, inciting a reaction out of you only moments after the record begins. This is conversation music for the wee hours of the morning, the type of record that knocks the red eye out of your vision and helps you see more clearly. I'll give it a B+.
